'Rough Edges' illustrates the perfect balance struck by Dez Williams, with intricate nuances breaking through barrages of raw kinetic force, all thriving on a sense of timelessness intersecting a feeling of immediacy.
'Colour Bind' cold fuses electro techno minimalism, with a fractured redux rhythm track accented by gooey bass stabs, visited by electro synth leads and dub tech stabs. The vibe is concise while feeling wide open.
'Rough Edges' is an epic stomper, built from rag tag random filter hits, a pulverizing wash of dirty monosynth in the low register, and a sinking atmosphere that descends into an electrified funky break.
'Bitofbaataa' immediately takes things interstellar. Dirty bass and expansive pads warp the senses, intersected by sliding melodic figures and a ferocious clap. Even this far in the cosmic realm, choice vocal hits keep things funky.
Sludgey dynamics take over on 'Saw Losers'. Menacing monster synths and huge crushing beats are paired with diabolical themes and resonant implosions.
'Never Perfect' wraps the EP on a sparkling effervescent high. Popping beats and a melodic bass groove slip and slide under some pedal tone synth siren calls. The elements are tied together with tranquil meditative string pads. The profound final statement to this release beautifully illustrates the journey and process of expression. Dez Williams reveals the mess and the magic in his process, coaxing depth and humanity from inhuman sonic palettes.
